Raddi Se Tarakki is a community-led initiative to bring self-sustainability to FreePathshala. Started in 2018, this program now has the support of 1,000+ families in Gurgaon, who regularly contribute their household recyclable waste. At FreePathshala, through RST, everyday waste like newspapers, cardboard, glass bottles, iron, e-waste, plastic etc. is transformed into funds for the education and empowerment of children from migrant construction worker families, ensuring our park-based classrooms continue to thrive.
At Freepathshala, we believe progress can come from the most unexpected places. Raddi Se Tarakki (Progress from Waste) is our unique, community-led initiative that transforms everyday recyclable waste into opportunities for education and empowerment for the children of migrant construction workers in Gurgaon.
We partner with local waste pickers from each residential area so their income is not affected. They collect recyclable waste directly from homes, RWAs, and offices during scheduled drives or pickups.
Once collected, materials like old newspapers, cardboard, magazines, and plastics are sorted for quality and type to get the best recycling value.
The sorted items are sold in bulk to larger recycling vendors, ensuring better prices than selling in small quantities.
Every rupee earned from recyclables goes into Freepathshala’s education programs — buying books, uniforms, stationery, and supporting the running costs of our 7 park-based classrooms.
Our model ensures waste pickers become partners in social change, earning from the collection work while helping fund children’s education.
What we see as waste can become a child’s future. This program lets anyone contribute to education without spending extra money — simply by giving away recyclables they don’t need. It also keeps waste out of landfills and supports responsible recycling in the community.
Funds vital learning resources and teacher salaries.
Reduces landfill waste and promotes recycling habits.
Strengthens the livelihoods of waste pickers while building an eco-conscious society.
