What We Do

We bring learning closer to children of migrant construction workers, support their transition into formal schools, and involve the whole community in a movement for inclusive education.

Learning centres in parks

  • 🏫 Provide bridge school classes in public parks across 7 centres in Gurugram sectors 45, 51, 52, and 57. These centres cater to nearby migrant construction worker populations. Migrant parents are often reluctant to send their children long distances in big cities, largely due to road safety concerns.
  • 📝 School enrolments - we get eligible children admitted to nearby government or EWS quota schools, coach them for entrance exams, and assist with paperwork.
  • 📚 Centre of Excellence (After-school program) - academic support for ex-Freepathshala children struggling to cope with formal school curriculum.
  • Extracurricular - sports, excursions, festival celebrations, cultural events.
  • 🎒 Provide learning aids including books, notebooks, stationery, and periodic support in clothes, shoes, and bags.

What we do to make the construction workers self-reliant and stable

Freepathshala understands that a child’s education is deeply tied to their family’s stability. Hence, we also:

  • 💼 Support job placement for parents to reduce relocations
  • 🗣️ Offer 1-1 counselling during PTMs to encourage parents to focus on their wards’ education
  • 🎁 Distribute free school supplies and essentials
  • 🤝 Ran relief initiatives during COVID-19 with food and ration kits

More than education — A community movement

We believe that involving society in supporting the less privileged fosters compassion and strengthens community engagement. We have the following programs to involve the residents of Gurugram:

♻️ Raddi se Tarakki (Converting waste into progress)

Local residents commit their old newspapers and these funds are used to support the Centres’ operational costs.

🛍️ Samman ka Samaan (Household goods with dignity)

Local societies and condominiums organise donation drives to collect gently-used clothes, shoes and household items. These are sold at nominal prices to the families of our students — providing them useful items with dignity and self-worth, while generating funds for our operations.

🤲 Volunteering opportunities

Our model thrives on community support — city residents, RWAs, and corporates regularly contribute time, goods, and funds. Volunteers conduct sessions on yoga, hygiene, sports, art and craft, storytelling, and more.
